A Spirit of Fear

In this week’s audio we dig into the often misunderstood verse in Second Timothy:

for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind 2 Timothy 1:7

What was Paul’s real message to Timothy in this? What is this love that casts out fear? What is it to have a ‘sound mind’? Jim addresses this and more in this week’s Shovel Audio program entitled “A Spirit Of Fear”.

Nergo, thanks for jumping in with your encouragement! :)

My wife and I listened to this audio. My wife thinks that you were saying that those who fear are not saved. I believe you were saying that there is a life in the believer that never fears, but because we relate to those who are the fearful and unbelieving, we can get caught in their unsound mind. But God has given us a sound mind where we know the truth and it sets us free from the fears that might try to confuse us.

My brother, you have summed it up beautifully! Attempting to judge one’s salvation based upon feelings of fear is a slippery trap. Please convey to your dear wife that I would never want her to be afraid that any sense of fear would put her in jeopardy.

...to believe in Christ is not equal to an acceptance of the religion of Christianity, nor is it an avoidance of fact. I know, I stand on what appears to be no-man's land. Thank God for that! :) source
