hello Jim, I’m not satisfied with these answers. As a former christ follower I’ve grown tired of shrill apologetics and bible thumping. How can one meet christ and know him as a REAL living being? Many use scripture to support the existence of a living christ today. The bible is a unique and important piece of literature, but its interpretation is easily twisted and often subjective. So let me play the devil’s advocate and assume the bible is a biased historical account of a charismatic and possibly crazy teacher that sparked a religious phenomenon. This leaves us with some nebulous holy spirit that reveals truth to us. Might I suggest that this is delusion bouyed by a christianese lifestyle and by living in a church community? You wrote that christ himself is the validation. So I ask again, how does one meet this Jesus being? 1Cor.15v19 jofi

Hello jofi,

I doubt I can satisfy you with any answers. But I do have a question for you. Do you really want to meet a deranged religious teacher as a real being … or did you have something else in mind when you wrote this? I cannot play along with your devil’s advocate scenario. Jesus Christ either is the son of God who hung on the cross and rose again or he is not. It is not true because of the fact that it is written. It is true because it is true or it is false because it is false. If it is true, it can neither be added to nor detracted from based upon any christianese lifestyle or church community. If it is false, it cannot be made true by any human argument or religious demands. The words that have been written about Christ can only testify. They either support a truth or a lie. And it is by Christ that we meet God.

If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. 1 Corinthians 15:19

A good verse … connected to an excellent argument. :)

Hey Jim a very good answer. I might add I do not believe it is possible to have been a true follower and end up wondering if Jesus is even real. Makes no sense. I do believe that this will be the account given by many in this hour. So sad. As many will say these are the best of times and the worst of times. I thank God that Jesus was and is the Christ and has come to make His home in all who will truly believe. For those this will be the best of times. For all others not so good.
