Do you hold to the position that there isn't literal burning fire in hell?

There WAS a literal fire burning in hell - that is, in Gehenna, the perpetual burning pile of garbage outside the city of Jerusalem - though it is burning no more. Yes, that place (and the very perceptions connected to it - destruction, agony, shame, alienation, etc) produced a picture of something else as used by Jesus and others ... yet this is where we have gone wild with our imaginations. The very purposes for which "gehenna" (or the other words, such as, grave, death, hades, etc) seem to have been totally overrun by the compounded pit we now refer to as "hell".
