Isn't forgiveness a choice rather than a feeling?

Isn’t forgivness a choice rather than a feeling?

I would suggest that forgiveness is neither a feeling we feel NOR a choice we make … but a MIRACLE that happens within us.

We have heard it so many times within the context of “Christian duties” that we totally miss the sense of the miraculous in those words of Paul. We are being called to assume the reality of our union with He who has forgiven all sin.

…forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32:

The words have lost their shock value. Forgive one another?! … but no one can forgive sins but God alone. The words call us to that place where we REALLY live … that place where there is no sin. It is the place where there is no law against us. It is the place of impossibility. It is the place where none of the old logic or formulas work. It is not the place of choice, it is the place where all choices have run dry. It is the realm of faith.

Hold no sin against one another anymore.

If any man is in Christ he is a new creature, the old has passed away, the new has come.2 Corinthians 5:17

We used to evaluate one another after the flesh. It is how we used to evaluate Christ. But now we evaluate him that way no longer. He died unto sin and has raised HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH IT ANY LONGER.

Guess what? Those in Christ are not only dead to sin through His death, they have been raised in the exact same life that raised Christ. He was the seed that went into the ground alone and died and has now been raised from the dead bearing much fruit with seed in them. That’s us.

Love,
Jim

It is amazing that even so called grace teachers miss the reality of His miraculous Life in us. I mean they are attempting to isolate the miraculous reality to pockets of life.[by balancing it with human wisdom] The miracle of Christ is in us, but we are taught to view IT according to the natural mind. The Outworking of the Spirit is a reality but often gets side stepped from our attention when we are moved into producing only what Christ can produce in and through us.[see Galatians]We loose that sense of joy and blessing. We stir up total confusion as we strive AGAINST the Spirit that flows in us.[alienation from Christ] It causes massive conflict within. What if we cause our OWN confusion when we are deceived into following after the flesh to do what only God can and does through His children? It cracks me up when I stand back and read what I just wrote..I can just hear the voice of the fleshly mind saying -hey that sounds like you are doing NOTHING! To that I must say that I can do ALL things through Christ[not Luvin] who strengthens me. One thing I have learned that in resting in Christ the Vine- the fleshly mind is going to attack at every angle it can find. For I have even seen the fleshly mind TRY to do the ‘resting thing’ by TRYING to do nothing. But, hey even God is faithful to reveal what TRUE resting is in the midst of the fleshly games….
