How theShovel Q&A came about

It happened while I was trying to do something else

After having seen the impact a question and answer page had on another web site, I had hoped one day I might get enough email requests to create a small Q&A section when I built my own web site. When I finally did build my first site somewhere around ‘97, I created it primarily as an outlet for my growing collection of writings, especially the Shovelation. I figured a Q&A page would merely supplement the writings I planned to keep up on. I had no idea the email responses (as well as the Shovel Shack discussion forum) would take up most of my writing time. While I sometimes wish I could just hide away and work on my other writings, I have often been reminded that, just as in any relationship, interruptions are the stuff of real life.

Well, it’s kind of like that with many of the Q&A responses included on theshovel.net! Please realize that in categorizing the Q&A section, I merely intend to make it a little bit easier for you to find what you are looking for. Many articles could just as easily fit in one of a few different categories, but I end up simply choosing one that works, and I sometimes move them around. However, you are not restricted by the Q&A categories, as you can search in a few different ways. You can use the search box on the upper right corner or the specialty search menus on the left side (you may have to scroll down to find it) and sometimes on the right side. Also, there are cross-reference links at the bottom of each article. If all else fails, feel free to contact me to find out if there is anything else available about given subject or Bible reference. :)

One more thing. You will notice that many of the Q&A articles between 1999-2003 are dated as January 1st, or something similar. That’s because of an earlier database transfer in September 2003 everything up to that time had the 2003 date applied. I’ve had to guess at many of them, and by using an easy to find date, sooner or later (after I’m done with the present database transfer) I may track those dates down on my backup email data on 3.5” floppies. :)
