Wasting time with childish thinking?
Submitted by theshovelWhen I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 1 Corinthians 13:11
I suspect that most of you learned this verse according to the very reasoning Paul claimed to have done away with. What I'm saying is that the childish reasoning he referred to had nothing to do with what many regard as baby Christian speaking and thinking, for there is no such thing. I'll bet that caught some of you off guard, eh? For the picture he presented didn't refer to the difference between immature Christians and mature Christians, rather it highlights the difference between the reasoning of the natural mind and the mind of Christ. Of course, we're all familiar with the reasoning of the fleshly mind, but when are we going to stop owning it? For we passed from this childish reasoning when we received the Spirit of truth in Christ.
Believe me, I understand why it seems to make sense to view ourselves as if we started out as baby Christians who need to mature into responsible grown-up Christians, for that is exactly what we learned according to the reasoning of this world. But don't you understand how this thinking plays into the whole concept of knowledge-based Christianity? I mean, why else do you think this whole issue confuses us so much? What if the massive extent of available Christian teaching is the cause of most of our confusion?
I speak to you who have the mind of Christ ... ask HIM to take the blinders of fleshly reason away so that you may recognize the truth from the lie. I'm telling you, though, to be prepared for a shaking that will have you reeling with the extent of the revelation.

What a representation, eh? It's really no different with Christianity today than how Paul described self-righteous religion with an OT quote: "For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of YOU." Not that the "Gentiles" don't have a problem with God anyhow, but our modern-day Christian world keeps giving the world more and more ammunition by which to scoff.

I think the lack of the ‘how-to’ mind of neatly prescribed courses of actions is what is really terrifying. The natural mind is obsessed with prerequisites to fulfillment. Whereas this mind is fulfillment.
Yes, the natural mind is
Yes, the natural mind is definitely obsessed with prerequisites to fulfillment. It cannot tolerate others gaining something without going through whatever process it went through.
