I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. Ephesians 1:18-21

Do you view this Biblical prayer as belonging only to those Christians who have achieved some higher (or perhaps, deeper) level than yourself? Or does it just seem too religious, maybe too ethereal? My friends, if you belong to Christ, the reality of this prayer has everything to do with YOU. Don't let the religious mind cause you to avoid it. Don't let the pious shame you because of their "spirituality." Don't let any person convince you that you are simply unworthy. In Christ, worth is no longer an issue, for he has already made you worthy through his achievement. What am I suggesting? That you stand in HIS worthiness ... which has been made YOUR worthiness.

Because our God has already "blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3) - which includes every amazing detail recorded in the next ten verses - the apostle Paul could go no further without expressing how he spoke to his father about those who are so blessed. And what does he pray, that they would get busy and do their part, that they should be shamed into a life of dedication or service? Far from it. If he was here today, he would tell us the same thing. And since he is not here, I'm going to pass it on to you. I ask the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ to enlighten you as to the riches of the life in which we now live. For Christ is your life, and the same power that raised him from the dead is actively working in you, whether you realize it or not. I don't encourage you to look for the reality of this working according to outward appearance, for that is the realm of the fleshly mind. And that mind would have you chasing after what looks spiritual rather than what is spiritual.

I would have you know the hope of his calling, which is the expectation of his working within you whom he has called out of darkness. I would have you know the riches of the glory of HIS inheritance in those he has made his own. Do you hear that? HE has an inheritance in US. That should make your head spin! And I would have you know the earth-shattering power toward YOU, you who believe in his son. My friends, don't let anyone cheat you out of knowing how much God has a stake in YOU.
