The Storms of Life
Submitted by theshovelHello from south Florida, where the hurricane is passing us by! :)
Yeah, we got another break again this year, however it looks as if Cape Hatteras will probably get slammed. My thoughts and prayers are with any of you in the path of Irene. Speaking of storms, how often do you feel as if most of your life has been sitting smack dab in the middle of the cone? You know, I remember hearing more than a few claims as to how God would pour out blessings upon my life. I wonder where that kind of BS comes from, as I also remember Jesus having clearly stated that those who belonged to him would suffer the same kind of trials that came upon him.
This I command you, that you love one another. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before [it hated] you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me. John 15:17-21
I know that doesn’t sound too encouraging, but it might give you a different insight regarding the trials in your life. I wonder how many things we’ve chalked up to God’s judgment are actually the hatred of the world Jesus said would happen.
We are blessed. It’s just that we’ve too often been looking on the surface. His blessing is Christ, for he is our life. And that’s much better than some temporary fix.

Are you trying to follow God’s will but just can’t seem to get it right? Do you listen intently for His direction but are confused on what it is supposed to look and sound like? Do you wonder what the Scripture means when it says God speaks in a still, small voice? We will cover these questions and more in this week’s audio entitled “The Lord Directs Our Steps”
