The Excellence of Love

Have you ever cringed at the reading of 1 Corinthians 13 (otherwise known as the Love Chapter) because its high-sounding virtues seem to mock your inability to produce them? If so, you are not alone. While you might regard the description of love as a checklist designed to highlight your failure in that department, I tell you that it declares good news to you. Yes, to you who might be sitting there right now wondering why there is no love in your life. After all, if God is love and God is in you because of Christ, then this same love has been put within you. Oh, I'm sure some of you are shaking your heads right now saying, Jim, if you only knew what my life is like then you wouldn't say that. What I want to know is, what voice have you been listening to that has convinced you to ignore the life that has been put inside you? The love chapter describes the realities that your heart is afraid to believe. The liar doesn't know you. Don't let him convince you as to what is true about you. Jim, I really appreciate you and your messages of hope. The world needs to hear what you are teaching. As I have grown as an adult, I have seen the hope of the Gospel but caught up in performance Christianity. As part of this, the focus was beating myself up for not being enough and not full knowing who I am or what I have in Christ. Yours and others message brought clarity and free to me. Keep up the good work, Brother.
