Identity Crisis?

Hello to you who are in Christ!

Who are you? How do you describe yourself? Once you get past describing what you do, as well as some of your interests and preferences, what else have you offered as insights into your identity? I'm sure most of you have had the opportunity to define yourself by your nationality, your age, your sex, your place of birth, your current domicile, or your marital status. You may have even been bold enough to add your beliefs or your denominational affiliation into the mix. You might have even claimed to be a Christian ... whatever that may mean in a world filled with a gazillion various shades of that designation. Now while those descriptions might satisfy a census report or job application, I suspect you realize it only defines that which is superficial. Consider the following (as from a new translation I found called, "Voice in the Wilderness")

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20, VW

Now I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't offer up various aspects about your life in this world to those who want to know, but don't believe the lie that says this is you really are, That's a sure setup for an identity crisis. For it is no longer you who live. :)

Shovel Audio

Adam and I have recorded another Shovel Audio this past Sunday. It's called The Joining of Two Plus One, and yes, it's about raising children. As a teaser, I'll tell you that after the half-time break I discuss what I consider to be the bogus concept of raising children by grace. Sound interesting? :) Adam and I would both love to hear from you after you've listened to at least some of it (hopefully more than a couple minutes).

I’ve gotten to the point that it almost sounds humorous to hear people pick out their favorite verses as if they were spread out on a buffet table in ala-carte fashion. source
