Freed to Hear
Submitted by theshovelIt amazes me how often Christians will quote the Bible to support their inability to comprehend specific doctrines or spiritual concepts. I mean, just because we're believers we don't have all the answers, do we? After all, the Bible says...
But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV
Who has plugged our ears so that we have learned not to hear what has freely been given to us? Can't we hear the things of God that have been hidden from the world? Perhaps we've been intimidated by the spirit of this world as it mocks our heritage in Christ. I mean, who do we think we are that makes us so special? And so to promote a spirit of humility we back off and agree that many things of God are just too difficult to understand. We learn to adjust to the religious mind that satisfies itself with humble sounding quips like, "God works in mysterious ways".
Am I suggesting that those who have received the spirit of God should be able to answer all the questions that have been asked about God? Should we all be able to answer those difficult Biblical passages that have eluded men for generations? Not at all, for the understanding we've been given has nothing to do with unlocking the mysteries of the religious mind of man. In Christ, we have been set free from the bondage of the mind that is ever seeking but never finding, the mind that thrives on the thrill of discovering what others don't know. In Christ, we have not been delivered into a new hierarchy with the better levels kept hidden from others; rather, in Him, we have all been set free so that we might know that which is hidden from the mind that despises such equality.
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:10-13 NKJV
