Taking a Stand on Visions Seen
Submitted by theshovelHow do you react in the presence of those who claim to have died and returned with information about heaven or hell?
Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God. Colossians 2:18-19 NASB

I loved it! I especially
I loved it! I especially loved the reference to 'vain imaginations.' It's always an encouragement in Life, Jim! I so enjoy the fellowship!
Mary
"Christ in You, the Hope"

“…holding fast to the Head, from Whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God.” Colossians 2:18-19 NASB
growth from GOD! i LOVE that! holding fast to CHRIST and not those who hold to self-abasement, visions, angels, inflated minds of the flesh (vain/empty imaginations, delusions and illusions based on them) and the like! but CHRIST Who Is our LIFE!
sighhhhh of deep relief and refreshment!! :)
Yeah I'm beginning to love
Yeah I'm beginning to love the Shovel Boca series!! Keep em coming :D
I think the coolest segment in this audio is when Jim tells the story of the woman with the tract, illustrating that the tract itself becomes central to her effectively witnessing. It's the ridiculousness of religion to base testimonies of REALITY on empty things like memorized lines or pieces of paper.
When it comes to the audio as a whole, Jim hit the nail on the head with how mankind is steeped in and obsessed with shadows as opposed to the living reality which is Christ himself. I myself am beginning to see the shadows for what they all are: The Holy Spirit of God has made it so that Truth becomes BLATANTLY OBVIOUS to us in Christ, so much so that we often discredit it because, after all, SOMEONE ELSE might know more than OURSELVES. Same thing with people who preach about their experiences: They, after all, MUST know it because they claim to have been there! But it's true: Truth is plain to us because we walk in it, and see nothing but it. Actually we're able to see both sides of the coin, the darkness (shadow) and the light (Truth/substance). The reason God left us in a world obsessed and overridden with shadows is because its actually the perfect canvas to show us what He's done for us!
What's funny is I used to base my whole faith on others' claims. Now I'm like, what need is there to make sure my theology and doctrines are all lined up with billions of individual & different people's claims of the spiritual? The world around us MISSES THE POINT of everything it experiences, therefore any such claims of spiritual awareness are flat out false, or at best only half-true.
It's just amazing to sit back and watch the world chase miracles and signs and wonders, while the very substance and reason BEHIND God's supernatural works...is alive and living... right in us!
