<<< Dear Jim: I am also unqualified as a Theologian. I have loved your articles, especially Galatians 98.
I was a M Div Student in a major Baptist Seminary. I took a class on "Old Testament Introduction.". The author of the textbook was the man who also translated the NASB and NIV Old Testament. In the book he trashed the Bible as unreliable. He gave me many textual problems showing how many errors there were in the Bible. I was losing my faith. I finally got the old KJV out and began to check the "error passages". The errors were not in the KJV Bible. I spent hundreds of hours in prayer and research.. As a result, I dropped-out of the Seminary and use the KJV Bible as my main Bible. I have faced a LOT of hostility over the decision of using the KJV Bible (including from my own wife).
I think that you should find out why "Wescott and Hort" have affected your version of the Bible. Here is a link that will save you time. All for Jesus, L. >>>
Hello L. good to meet you. I’m glad you enjoyed Galatians 98.
As my faith is not in a particular version of the Bible I don’t claim any one of them as being “my” version. I may have my preferences but I have used a few, including the KJV, which was the only version used at my Bible college … from which most of my memorization took place.
Now, I’ve heard the phrase “losing my faith” quite a bit, but I have to wonder what that really means. Maybe we only lose confidence in a particular position or intellectual leaning, but faith – faith in Christ – shows itself strong when those other confidences fall away. Christ is the word that does not change.
Jim
