Defense mechanism always on?
Are you always prepared to speak up, ready to defend yourself? What's up with that? My friend, there is someone who has already spoken for you and is at your defense before God. Give it a rest already! Sure, there are times when things need to be said, but I venture to suggest that most of us are so caught up trying to defend ourselves that we wouldn't recognize those times until they are far past us. Aren't you tired of the constant vigilance of always having to listen in so that you can stand up for yourself against any slight against your character, your actions, your decisions, your beliefs, your viewpoints, or your opinions? How long will it take you to realize the futility of it all?

Re: Defense mechanism always on?
Jim, I've been enjoying your recent newsletters, short but so full of life, freedom and encouragement-thanks:)

YES, that was a tiring and futile way to live!! I found it happens when we present true freedom in Christ to others that have to have the "right" doctrine and then they want you to justify your freedom:( It's so great to find our justification in Him and REST in Him.

Isn't it wonderful to know that we don't have to jump on that vicious treadmill? :)
Thanks for your encouragements!

I sure am tired of that kind of vigilance. So why do I keep doing it, huh? Sigh.
Good words. Thanks.

When you realize how it wears you down, I think you're also in the process of pushing it out of your life!
Jim :)
Re: Defense mechanism always on?
It was on again in a big way recently.
Anyone else relate out there?

Re: ... in a big way
I know you were asking someone else, but did you have something in particular you wanted to discuss about your recent struggle?
Jim
