We only think we can't understand Christ because of a lack of knowledge, and we only assume another can understand because he knows more than we do!   source

The spirit of the world

The spirit of the world is built upon a rationale or logic that makes sense to those who are of the world. At one time, all of us followed that wisdom without question, even though we may have challenged many aspects, manifestations, or characteristics of it. I have learned that it makes no difference what face the world's wisdom puts on, whether religious, scientific, contemplative, etc, it ends up all the same. In Christ, and only in Christ, do we find a true sound mind. Listen for it, for in him it is in you. :)

Re: The spirit of the world

It's baffles me how it is even possible that the Law makes sense to the world b/c of the simple fact that it doesn't make sense at all. How could people not see the stupidity and futility of the chains that bind them? How could people -not= see that even with all our advances in technology, scientific discoverys and new theories and outlooks of life, that they're -all- built on the same UNstable foundation; that nothing at all has really changed? I mean what we talk of here on the shovel seems so obvious we could kick ourselves for not realizing it previously. But oddly enough there was no way we -could've- realize this without Him.

Re: The spirit of the world

Justin, this is an excellent observation! I've often wondered over the years some of the very same things and have come to the same conclusion as you. What is really baffling is the extent to which those in bondage (including my former self) end up depending upon and even loving the chains that bind them.

"... the Spirit of the world ..." <-theshovel

i don't know why those words are hitting me right now, but they are ... that phrase. i will ponder them.

then i also had the thought, "just how many 'spirits' are there anyway?" LOL but really ... reading through the bible sometimes i come across 'the spirit of' this, that and/or the other.

just wondering ... again. i think i have wondered about that several times over the years. LOL

nevertheless ... great post. :)

Re: The spirit of the world

LOL Yes I can relate with that question Sherri! He he, I mean if you read 1John anymore than a few times you definately get the idea that he viewed life as having many "spirits" in it. I wonder what Life lies behind the door of that one??

Great question my sister!

Jim,

thank you for you!

Yeah, you can hear this on the talk shows and even from our own selves when we hear people coming to the conclusions that the "system" in place in the world just is hypocritical, unfair or what have you...

Thank God we are being taught[through Him] to know Him who is our salvation.

Thank you for your encouragement :)
